Zendesk Shares the Love (and Money!) with Dry July in Australia and New Zealand

April 29, 2013

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – April 29, 2013 – Zendesk, the cloud-based customer service software provider, today announced that the subscription fees raised across Australia and New Zealand from its $20 Starter Plan will be donated to adult cancer charity, Dry July.

Zendesk around the world has a proud tradition of donating subscription fees from its $20 Starter Plan to deserving not-for-profit organisations.  Zendesk offers the Starter Plan for new companies getting started with customer service and who have three or fewer support agents. For each new Aussie and Kiwi customer that signs up for the Starter Plan in 2013, Dry July will receive a donation equal to that customer’s first year subscription.

Dry July is a charity organisation that raises funds to create better environments and support networks for adult cancer patients and their families. Dry July’s annual fundraising initiative encourages individuals and teams to give up drinking alcohol for the month of July while being sponsored for this effort by family, friends and colleagues.

Zendesk and Dry July have forged a strong relationship since the Australian Zendesk team participated in Dry July in 2012. Since then, the Dry July team has moved into donated office space at Zendesk’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne. Now for 2013, the local Zendesk team has chosen Dry July as its adopted charity. The donation of Starter Plan subscription fees from Australia and New Zealand is the first of many efforts planned for the year.

“Dry July is an exceptional local charity that works tirelessly to help raise both awareness and money to improve the lives of adults living with cancer,” said Michael Hansen, Zendesk vice president and Asia Pacific managing director. “The Zendesk team is proud to help support Dry July and the vital work it does in the community and we encourage all those social drinkers out there to get involved in the initiative.”

Phil Grove, founder and executive director at Dry July, says the team is grateful for the ongoing support of Zendesk in Australia and New Zealand: “Dry July relies on donations and the support of partners like Zendesk to allow us to continue doing the work that we do. “It’s fantastic to see a company so pro-actively supporting their local community. We’re so pleased Zendesk has chosen us as their local charity and we hope we can convince the team to give up the booze again come July. I will be keeping an eye on them during the month to make sure no one falls off the wagon!”

Zendesk’s donations of its Starter Plan subscription fees have long helped to fund critical services for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, and more recently, the team at charity:water. In 2013, each Zendesk regional office is choosing its own local charity to receive funds from the $20 Starter Plan. Further information about the not-for-profit organisations supported by Zendesk can be found on their
website.
