Zendesk releases its 2021 Global Impact Report

For the third consecutive year, our aim is to fulfill our commitment to showing our progress in meeting stakeholder expectations of how we strive to operate as a responsible company.

Zendesk today released our 2021 Global Impact Report which shares our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) progress. In 2021, we continued our commitment to supporting our colleagues, communities, and customers.

We have been intentional in how we are building a culture where all employees feel empowered to be their authentic selves at work. For us, that means living the values that define who we are and what we stand for, paying close attention to how we take care of and develop our employees, and accelerating our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our communities and company.

The 2021 report shares how we addressed our DEI commitments with accountability at the core. We established a diversity council, made improvements across the board on diverse representation in our workforce and reimagined how we are bringing our “Inclusion” value to life through our Employee Communities and inclusive benefits.

Our social impact programs, underwritten by a total of more than $3.7M in grants from the Zendesk Foundation, supported meaningful virtual volunteering for employees, strengthened community nonprofits around the world, and sustained strong partnerships with international aid organizations doing critical work in the wake of multiple crises.

Zendesk’s sponsored product program, Tech for Good, donated over $3M in software to nonprofits, enabling (among other projects) the International Rescue Committee to create digital hubs in 10 countries including Afghanistan so refugees and displaced people have access to critical resources.

In our efforts to be an environmentally sustainable company, we successfully powered our offices with 100% renewable energy for the second year in a row and purchased carbon removal credits from innovating carbon sequestration companies.

We’re proud of the work this report encompasses, while recognizing there’s always more to be done. We thank our employees, customers and partners for joining us along this important journey.
