We started using Paligo a few years ago to author and manage our content - our primary problem to solve was image reuse, but Paligo turned out to be even more useful than just that. Yes, we have a library of media files that is much more easily managed than before, but now we also have that for our text content as well. As we grew to include multiple brands and expanded across multiple countries using multiple languages, it became essential to be able to author in a single place, manage all our assets together, and single source as much content as possible - while still being able to publish content to multiple channels. Paligo not only solved our original problems, but solved problems we didn't know we were going to have in the future! And, my team really loves authoring in Paligo. Their graphic editor is super easy and dropping into the XML editor is also a breeze. Having both options helped my team really get a solid understanding of what it meant to use a structured (or topic-based) authoring strategy. Since nobody on our team had experience with this type of authoring at the beginning, Paligo was very proactive about training us - both in using the tool as well as in the methodology. They've since created a video training series (which my newest writer used to train with) and a community, which has helped answer many questions about how best to accomplish certain goals - like how to add role attributes to elements so the HTML output has our desired class names and structuring content to leverage Javascript for using tabs. Their support team has also been really responsive when we've come across unexpected behavior. Most recently, when we were publishing to ZenDesk we would get intermittent publishing failures which we couldn't discern a pattern for. Their team worked closely with us to figure it out - ultimately the issue was that some of our ZenDesk articles had reached their attachment limit due to too many images. This was because we had not configured Paligo to use persistent filenames for media so each publish added images to the article's media library, when it should have been recognizing the images were already there. Then, they went the extra mile after we made the adjustment and added a setting to Paligo that would remove unused images for us so we didn't have to manually delete them. I mean, wow! The folks at Paligo really understand the challenges of content authoring for the web and multi-channel content delivery. And, they are all very passionate about documentation, just like I am. Of all the tools we use, this one is the most essential and the one we use every single day. It's a bit of a learning curve if you've never authored in this way before, but once you get the hang of it, you'll never go back (at least I know I never will).
